This leather steel restraint kit is certainly beautiful. Like they say in the description, each piece has mirror-like jewellery quality steel over supple leather. They’re a pretty piece of restraint kit, and I will definitely use them, but I have some serious complaints.
First off, they require locks and do not come with them. This isn’t terrible, because you might have a specific lock preference; maybe you want heart locks. Perhaps you think brass locks clash with the stainless steel. Kinksters are an opinionated bunch when it comes to sex toys, so from that standpoint, I can understand. But you also need a lock for each piece, and they aren’t inexpensive. Maybe I'm just being nitpicky.
The biggest issue I have with this restraint kit is how difficult it is to get them into shape without compromising how good they look and potentially structural integrity. In pictures, they’re nice and round; they arrive in a u-shape so you can bend them to fit the part where the lock goes into one of three holes for the best fit. This seems logical, but the metal is thick enough that there’s a lot of resistance, and it tends to bend at an angle rather than a smooth curve where there are rivets in the steel.
I found that with some careful rolling against a firm, but not hard surface, like a wood cutting board or hard plastic, helped a little bit, but I’ve got stiff joints and it wasn’t fun. Additionally, I couldn’t get the wrist cuffs down to the third hole (I have tiny wrists) without compromising the shape significantly. Furthermore, getting in and out of these restraints would be tough. The second hole I can wiggle out of with some work, but it’s good enough, and this way I don’t have to unbend it to put them on or take them off.
The leather is also pretty firm. Some people like that, but I'd prefer softer leather. These restraints would fail to hold me hard in any direction for any period of time without significant discomfort. However, that just means I’ll have to be choosy about what scenes I’ll use these for - probably with wrists cuffed to each other, or either tied to a bed frame or spreader bar.
To conclude, it is a gorgeous restraint kit - but they’re really more for show than they are for utility. They can absolutely be used in a scene, but they might get too uncomfortable over long periods of time for some people.
