Fetishmen.net is a kinky alternative to some of the regular gay dating sites out there and is entirely devoted to men and fetishes. But how does it work? In serving our vision to be the most trusted BDSM and Fetish community, we asked writer Sean Lucas to take a dive into Fetishmen for us. Find out if the experience lived up to the fantasy.

Fetishmen Overview

www.Fetishmen.net describes itself as "the fastest male-only fetish website around". A rather vague claim, I thought. Indeed, I could find little more information on how many members the website has. Not even a boastful ‘about us’ section on the site itself - talk about missing a trick. The good news is that this site sells itself as being specifically aimed at men who are into fetishes. But would it live up to its promise?

Fetishmen Visual Appeal

Fetishmen has opted for colours usually used to denote something dark and somewhat dangerous. A black background, complete with red font. All enticing enough. But what's the first thing I saw when I opened the homepage? A banner ad right across the top for Men.com. And scrolling down the page, there it is again – the same banner.

Sandwiched in between was yet another attempt to get me to part with my cash. This one invited me to "get kinky on cam". Yes, you guessed it, a link to live cams. In other words, all manner of men plying their trade!

For me, the proliferation of advertising spoilt the visual appearance. Indeed, it feels like the rest of the site is subservient to a hard advertising push. But I had to give them full marks for shamelessness if nothing else.

Fetishmen Navigation and User Experience

On hitting the Fetishmen homepage, the first thing I saw was a service announcement about videos written in CAPS, which felt like I was being shouted at. Another announcement followed below, in a different font. Messy!

Scrolling down, I viewed the list of members and then 'albums' this is followed (interspersed with a Men.com ad as previously mentioned) with thumbnails of videos uploaded by members. You'll find everything from 'cock smoking' to 'throat training with fuck machine' here. Expect graphic images to delight all tastes!

I then perused the left-hand-side menu bar. Here I found the sections mentioned above, along with a link to video chat. Additionally, there's 'Pay-Per-View' (live cams), currently in Beta testing – and the promise of a soon to come 'online store'.

Is Fetishmen.net free to use?

Yes, to an extent. With my free membership, I found it easy and quick to set up a profile. There are 18 fetishes you can select. It's not a very extensive list though, ranging from bondage and fisting to uniforms and rubber.  You also need to choose the 'fetish network' you consider you're a part of, I found 12 options here, which, again, were diverse. You can then search members by their 'fetish network'.

Fetishmen.net Premium | Does Membership Mean More Kink?

Fetishmen Premium is the paid-for membership option. However, infuriatingly I could not find a list on the website of exactly what you get for your bucks. Fetishmen do note, however, that you can only start a private chat with another member if you have Premium membership. But, unless I'm missing something, that appears to be all the information that they provide.

Fetishmen Help and Support

Along the left-hand-side menu column, there's a link to a support page. At the top of this page, I was happy to see a search tool inviting you to type in your query. Beneath this is a list of FAQ, subdivided by category. These cover everything from online abuse to information on videos and photos you post. However, upon clicking on several FAQs, I was met with a message which said: "Stay tuned for more information", this even applied to the ‘edit your profile’ section. Not helpful at all. I'd have thought populating fields with essential information would have been a priority.

Fetishmen.net Community Feel

Sadly, I got no real impression of an active community on Fetishmen and there seemed to be few attempts to connect users and foster a sense of community. A shame and a wasted opportunity.

Fetishmen.net Review | Final Thoughts

Another website devoted to men with fetishes should always be welcomed. And Fetishmen in aiming only at men interested in the BDSM lifestyle yields more than general dating sites like Scruff. But I felt that Fetishmen still needs a lot of work. The layout is messy, and there are parts of the website which feel unfinished.

Worse still, advertising dominates here at the expense of the community. And please, dear Fetishmen.net, if you're going to offer paid-for membership, at least let us kinksters know what we're signing up for...
