Vegans, vegetarians and allergies in BDSM

Whilst I'm not one of the above I made a light hearted remark regarding one of them and it got me thinking these are other things Doms and subs should think about, a lot of products are leather, rubber or latex, and creams and lotions could contain *** products and or items that could trigger an allergic reaction, so just thought I'd put this up for discussion and help those that may need it, oh yes, one unusual one regards nut allergies if you've just eaten Brazil's this can go through into sperm, and cause an allergic reaction,

Hey @quietlysurethese are really interesting questions! I hope we hear from some of our vegan and vegetarian BDSM enthusiasts out there about how they navigate the *** product-heavy world of fetish.

With the Brazil nuts, this is fact. Nut proteins literally end up in your nuts and can cause a reaction to those who are susceptible to this allergy. Was an interesting find when I was at college in my catering and hospitality management course.

As I said, just thought I'd put it out there,

There are vegan friendly lubes out there and non leather equipment. As with anything it's best to talk about what you will and won't be happy using and also to check before you buy. If in doubt get the person with the allergy or life choice to check it out as well so you know it's ok. I'd personally not be happy wearing real leather myself - clothes or collars/restraints, but I've found "fake leather" alternatives that I'm more than happy to use. But everyone is (thankfully) different!

I always ask potential subs about any health issues they would have, like allergies or skin intolerance etc...? But good to start a forum discussion about it.
Great point about the nuts allergy, kind of rare but it’s a big risk so I would think the person will tell straight away!

These are std questions any Dom'me Top or sub should be bringing up or asking. It's a pre requisite. And should be on a std check list. The same as sexual history and medical issues if it's not all on the table then how can you be clear and act safely.

It comes under the same heading as trigger discussions around and interaction or act .

Rope can be another one to be careful of. Not just what it’s made of, but how it’s been treated.

Tapes can also be tricky too.........I am completely allergic to most adhesive tapes out there, which was not good as my former partner loved to bind my hands with it but after few trials and errors we found silicone based tapes did not have the same effect on my skin.  I now keep a roll of it in my kit permanently. It's also readily available from any good medical supplier and can come in different sizes and lengths depending on your needs.
