Dominant Level Unlocked

Two weeks ago, if you'd have told me I have a dominant side, I probably would have laughed at you, as on the odd occasions in the past when I have tried to be dominant with someone, it's felt uncomfortable and stilted to the point of it being neither satisfactory nor fulfilling for either myself or the other person concerned.
.
And yet, a little over two weeks ago, I had a coming together with someone (from another site) who was also submissive, where a hitherto unlocked level was found that is my dominant side.
.
I'm not talking here about role-playing or me adopting a mantle for a scene to satisfy another, but a natural and instinctive dominance, one that consumes me completely and takes control.
.
It's blown my mind a little if I'm honest, as I said above, I truly did not believe I had it in me, especially not as naturally and instinctively as it has been.
.
I'm not even sure that the dominant level could be unlocked with just anyone, more it's been a symbiotic thing with the person concerned, where a very specific connection and chemistry have aligned to make it happen.
.
I'm completely comfortable in this new found role, in this specific dynamic, but also very aware of my own submissive side and don't want to lose sight of that either, and am lucky enough that this new partner is both poly and happy for me to continue to explore my submissive side, in fact positively encourages it.
.
What's driving me I'm not sure, possibly my submissive instincts to please others and it's that which is coming to the fore in shape of dominance. Possibly my personal belief that in life we all have those we're submissive to, and those we're dominant towards as well as those we're equal to, and in this particular relationship I'm naturally more dominant to this lady.

Whatever it is though I'm not about to change my profile to be switch, as I said further up, I'm not sure I could dominate anyone else but it just seems to work in this particular instance.
.
I'm not dwelling on it too much though, and am embracing the fact I've unlocked another side to my sexuality and as long as we both continue to enjoy it long may that continue.

It does all go to prove though that you can teach an old dog new tricks!!!

Same thing happened to me when I uncovered my dominant side with one person. It’s crazy and weird and, for me at least, felt bizarre (tbf it still feels bizarre) but it also feels natural. I totally get what you mean about it being person/relationship dependent - I’m not a Dom or a switch and I can’t imagine having this with anyone other than the current person.
