Hello There,

I'm new here and have been browsing for awhile learning about the different kinks/fetishes. I would like to know more about scenes and what goes into creating them.

How often do you scene with your partner/partners?

The scene depends on the partner. What kind of dynamic you have. What they are into and such. These are things you discuss previously so you are aware if their limits and such. As for how often? That is also something you both discuss. You can do once a week, a few times a week. Just be careful, if you are the dominant one, Dom drop can happen and for some it takes a toll on the body and mind. Don’t treat scenarios as kink dispensing. These are all things you both discuss so you may plan for a scene and prepare yourself.

I often find 'scene' a weird word for play (especially as 'the scene' can refer to kink community - munches/events) but I kinda get it

A scene is usually a piece of play that is somewhat pre-planned.  This doesn't necessarily mean down to every detail - but that you know where and when you will play and with who.   You will know and prepare any toys or equipment for it, as well as planning how to deliver aftercare if appropriate.

Though in a lot of cases, play can be more spontantious and fluid.

It may be that going to a club with a partner you've packed some toys that you're happy to use together and might just play if you're both in the mood and suitable opportunity and space arises.

Or, it may be you have hired out a dungeon space and know what is there and plan to make use.
