If this topic has already been covered, please let me know the title of the thread so that I can find it.

 

Over the last two years of being on this site, I have seen icons like curling arrows, bins and pink spots; at the start of a message preview within my inbox.

 

I have no clue if there is an index of what each of these icons mean, but a list of these pictures and what they mean would be really helpful; in a place that is easy to find if someone were to look for them.

 

Does a bin icon at the start of a message preview mean the person has deleted your message?

Does a spot mean it is unread?

What does the curling arrow mean?

What other symbols are there?

A pink spot = unread
The arrow = send
A bin = deleted

But a message can be read and you can mark it again as unread

There's also an icon for chats that have been hidden by the recipient, but can't remember what it is .....

I think the eye with a line through it means it's been hidden by the recipient.

Just a thought, but maybe having some 'hints' when you hover over an icon would help out users. It's not obvious what each means - you have to guess a lot of the time!
