So many years I yearned to be free,

To fly unfettered, being me.

Sounds so easy just to be

Who you are, loved and free.

The road was hard, my friend.

I kept sight of the end.

 

I met the devil on my way,

He came so close, leading me astray.

Away from the freedom I'd always desired,

I thought we were flying higher and higher.

He took me to hell, and beyond.

Away from the freedom that I longed. 

He almost broke me,

Untill I broke free.

Because good people love me

And they helped me see

Now I'm rid of him, I am truly free.

I have always loved your poetry @LazyPiratesBounty and this is no exception, your words brought me to tears as I could feel the emotions in all of them and they truly gave me goosebumps…….and the words that come to mind right now is that the beautiful butterfly is finally free and long may she shine and soar.

Beautiful words @LazyPiratesBounty I just love your poem. Personally i believe that great writing comes from the heart and from raw emotion. I obviously don’t know if that is the case here but it sure felt that way.
