Make Up

Any other make up lovers on here? I have always loved make but have generally stuck with nudes and natural palettes. Recently I have been much more adventurous colour wise....today's look for going to the shop was shades of pink eyeshadow and a lipstick called vampire (mask ruined the look slightly 😆)

I don't purchase expensive makeup, mostly ELF and Revolution (I stick to cruelty free and vegan) does anyone have any favourite brands? Or can't live without product?

Do you wear make up more or less over lockdown? Do you feel more confident when wearing it? Do you stick to the same looks or do you like experimenting?

I know it's not a ground breaking subject, but it's Sunday and I'm bored!💄👄💅

I love make-up!!!!! I just don't wear it as much now!! I remember being 5 or 6 and putting on my mum's make-up and literally looking like a clown lol 🤣🤣 no change as I got older really lol I just passed it off as my goth phase lolol 🤣

But yeah I went through my goth phase which lasted a good 10 or so years then I only wore make-up when I went out to clubbing/gay bars etc to see local drag queens do their thing. I've helped my best friend get ready for a show ( even tho they didn't need any help in the make up department lol they always did it better than me 😂) but it's where I learnt how to do eyeliner right, as she would sit side by side with me and she taught me. I tend to stick to the same brands and colours, I have my favs and then I have ones I don't recommend at all. I can't live without my lipgloss and mascara!!!! I have long eyelashes anyway so I love how mascara just accentuates them.

Mascara is definitely a must have! I have to admit that still after all these years I still haven't got the hang of liquid eyeliner, although I haven't tried for a long while so maybe it's a new skill to learn 😆

The amount of times I have poked myself in the eye with eyeliner is ridiculous 😂 but I got it perfect and that was from my friend. But I can't use it anymore as I have arthritis in my hands and I can't grip things like that anymore and I get the shakes too so I'd hate to see what I'd look like now if I tried 😂😂😂 I'd have black lines all over my fave lol

It could be a new look! 😆 My youngest daughter did my makeup yesterday (she is obsessed) she has a tremor so was a bit dubious about the outcome but encouraged her nonetheless. She actually did a pretty good job for a nearly 11 year old that has to use her left hand even though she is right handed and shakes if she holds things to long/tightly

Ooh, make-up definitely can be groundbreaking, I tried it for the second time last night. Managed to ***t on two black eyes on the first attempt :joy:
I was inspired by Tim Minchin I love his look. And Lindsay Stirling in her rendition of Phantom of the Opera. If only I had the skills

It's all just practice, more you do it the better you get! YouTube is a great place to learn. Adam Ant always had amazing eyes 😍 oh and Tim Curry in Rocky Horror. I also think David Bowie in Labyrinth is an amazing look

I wear quite a bit to work now, being much more confident using brighter colours, still use a nude lipstick though as not sure it's quite the place for dramatic make up statements 🤣

Oh gosh I agree!!!!! David Bowie was my first crush and then Adam Ant/Pete Burns ( before he ruined his face when older ) there was just something about the guys in the 80s. There is just something about men who wear make-up anyway!!!! 😍😍 Even when it's just guyliner I'm a puddle on the floor and mix that with tattoos etc I'm like 🥴🥴 lol

I have a split personality when it comes to men 🤣 the 80's new romantic type from my childhood crushes and then tattooed men, especially if they are wearing suits, which has developed over the last few years 😍🤤

Great topic @Morganna 💗💗💗

I love, love, love Makeup 😍😍😍  I could literally fill a couple of suitcases with the amount I own.

My introduction into the world of make-up was through the "Dolly" magazines back in the 80's.  Each month I would troll through each page looking for make-up ideas and created my own scrapbook.  My first make-up book was "How not to wear blue eyeshadow"  I've still got the book and its such a laugh looking back through it now and seeing the styles.  Im not sure which was worse the eyeshadow or the hairstyles but to think I used to try and emulate them is the biggest laugh of all, its like what was I thinking 🤦‍♀️🤦‍♀️

After graduating from Dolly, I moved on to Cosmo mags, the bonus of those were the centerfold inserts......... ooh la la 😍😍 After cosmo I did a few community college courses on hair, makeup and nails and I think had I not ended up as a bankie, I would have definitely gone for a career in make-up artistry.

My favourite makeup would have to be Morphe, MAC, NYX and Clinique for different reasons.  My all time favourite lippy's would have to be anything from "Christian Louboutin" but I need to win lotto to indulge in those as they are so dam expensive.  Kat Von D also has some beautiful lipsticks thankfully not as pricey.

I also love make-up brushes and have more than I care to admit to but gosh you can create such beautiful make-up with the perfect set of brushes.  My latest collection is from Morphe and I am totally fangirling over them and they clean up like a dream.

Nail polish is my other secret indulgence and I pretty much own every colour under the rainbow and then some.  I love nothing more than spending a few hours doing my nails and creating something fun and eye catching, especially if my nails are really long.

Then you have the false eyelashes.....oh gosh I could go on for days ......... 😁🧚‍♀️

@PixieDust thank you 😊

I got my make up education from just 17 and then glamour and cosmo too.

Make up brushes is something that I'm starting to really appreciate the quality of and have started to better within my budget. I like NYX makeup too.

Nails wise I treat myself to new nails every 4 weeks as I can't do nails to save my life...ditto false eyelashes but just do with mascara there!

There's a Netflix show with MUA's competing each week and I'd love to be able to do eyes as well as them!

I think one of the reasons I like Morphe and their brushes is they are good quality but they don't break the bank.  They regularly have specials where you can get a decent set for half the price and especially now with Christmas only around the corner they are putting out some great kits.  I already have my eye on another set 👀🤦‍♀️

Mascara is great if you can't do Falsies, there are some brilliant ones out there now that can achieve a similar intensity as Falsies and atleast you don't have to worry about glueing your eyes together if you overdo the glue 😋  These days I tend to do Mascara over Falsies only because I need my glasses to see what the hell I'm doing which makes putting them on challenging when there is a big lense blocking the way.  I did get one of those flip pair of glasses where you can flip one of the lenses down but I kept going crossed-eye 🤣  now just use Falsies for special occasions

Ooh I'm going to have to check out Netflix see if we have the show here in Aus,  I feel a binge fest coming on if we do 😁

I adore the goth/alternative makeup, obviously not on me but the look, the dark eyes and deep red or black lipstick. Yes please 😊.
