Something totally unrelated to kink. Anyone else found a lot of genealogy sites offer everything and nothing, and if you pay to join only find what you already know, and get told upgrade to find out more, I tried this only to find totally different people unrelated, and the now normal message of no records of this person.

What i found, is that they had much more American records than they did british, so it really wasn't much good for me. However the setup that they have for arranging your family tree was really good, and the website people of Scotland was excellent for finding birth and death certificates and notifications, and you pay per download (I think it's 40p?) So I did most of my record searching on that site, and then used the actual ancestry site just to organize what I found

Only real evidence of him (apart from me) is when I look his wife's name up, and date comes up as an experiment I put my nan and grandad name and all relevant info into a find grave yard thing, not only did it say no record, but also said unable to find church. Now they lived literally a minute from me and grew up with them about, and they're in local church, makes you wonder...

i'm afraid i find these genealogy sites about as convincing as some of the scammers on here, tried similar experiments to you to see if they were usable for research purposes and not one of them picked up published records so I'll not go back

As for the DNA tests, a consumer group did them over a certain period from a "popular" genealogy site, each time got different results

thats less worrying from a professional stance since its not that uncommon to have some variation, the big trick is in how variations are interpreted/packaged
