We usually go to swingers clubs and Mrs wears bra and knickers and Mr wear something like a mesh thong.

But we want to go to a bdsm night in a wear but says to wear fetish wear.. 

Any idea would be gratefully appreciated as this is very new and don't want to feel out of place

Leather is always a good bet.  Leather pants can be quite practical, as they can also be worn in a lot of non-fetish settings.  I take it, for the moment, you wish to keep it simple?

Fetish wear is quite a blanket term,( lol, no pun intended), as if you're aroused by jeans and T-shirt for instance, that can be classed as fetish wear, ultimately it depends on your roles and what you're comfortable with

Talk to the event organisers. Jeans are often frowned upon but most insist on a minimum of all black attire. Remember that getting there and away is public space so a long coat for more revealing outfits would be appropriate, unless they have good changing facilities available, but inside and away from prying eyes then underwear is often a pretty good bet for the submissive or bottom, and a suit or corset for the Top or Dominant. It really is a wide range and so the people running the event are the best source of specific guidance.

Like @typhoon2 said each dungeon usually has its own set of standards for a dress code. Ours does not allow jeans past the changing rooms. Check the dungeon you plan on attending and follow their guidelines. Pretty undergarments are generally acceptable on the floor for ladies.
