Sinking to my knees
Listening to the sound of sea
Crashing onto the sand
My arms wrapped around myself
For comfort, from the ache within.

An isolated spot is all I crave,
Somewhere to sit and contemplate,
Choices made, past and present
Perhaps it’s time to change
To stop backing away and face things

My emotions that swirl around
And make me so fiery,
Acting without thinking,
Only to regret it later.

When I am calm, I wonder at my choices
Wondering why I’m still running
Still hiding, wondering at myself
How long does it take to heal, to change?
How do you change one’s nature?

Lack of trust, always my downfall
Baby steps, I remind myself.
One step at a time, one foot in front of the other.
