As a rider to this, I must point out that sharing words like these are not indicative of my state of mind. They are words from a moment, for a moment, and are gone once committed to paper. Mostly.

 

Hidden Depths

 

Sit with me, but be quiet my love

Don't make a sound, or they will hear

In deepest depths they wait for prey

They know our weakness, and feed on ***

 

Over centuries they have claimed the souls

Of hapless lovers like you and me

Their dark waters draw us close each time

One dip, and we will never be free.

 

They will not snatch with tooth and claw

But tempt us in with softest voice

Entranced, we'll slip beneath the waves

Doomed, because we made that choice.

 

I know you wonder from where such knowledge comes

Of the terrors that await within

Their names are Hope, Truth and Faith

And I have lost them all in this life of sin.
