Deleted Member Posted October 24, 2021 Posted October 24, 2021 Hello everyone! I am basically a newbie. I recently found out I am a rigger. I would like to know is there a special kind of rope that is used to tie up with? And if so where would I buy it? I live in Canada and live in a city. I know of Adult stores, would that be one of the places that I could buy the rope? I would also like to learn about the various kinds of knots that could be used as well. Are there any books or other resources that could help?
TheBookCollector Posted October 24, 2021 Posted October 24, 2021 The best amd most common rope for bondage is 6mm 3 ply Jute rope as it holds frictions(knots) a lot better than cotton which can slip. Nylon has its own risk profile. Here in the UK i buy from a supplier called Esinem amd Anatomie studio. Knothead rope in the US does nylon. Most of the rope you buy from a shibari rope specialist withh be prepared (smoothed, oiled, knotted/whipped) and cut to 7m or 8m lengths, which tend to be $15/length. You can buy on a reel these tend to be 200m but not prepared or cut and you have to do that yourself. I suggest googling Shibari rope, you.will need 8-10 lengths to start with, along with safety sheers (emt scissors) or safety knife to cut the rope in an emergancy. Also find local classes and learn where major nerves and *** vessels are as rope bondage can cause serious often longterm nerve damage.

Deleted Member Posted October 24, 2021 Author Posted October 24, 2021 Many thanks Book Collector! I had NO idea it would be sooooooo complicated and involved. Where would i get EMT scissors? A medical supply store?
charlias Posted October 24, 2021 Posted October 24, 2021 Second that from esinem. He also has an amazing DVD series on shibari. You can use other ropes but always make sure they're 100% natural fiber. They're easier to wash and don't create as much heat when drawn across the skin so are less likely to burn your partner. As for scissors, you'd be able to find them on eBay or Amazon, but don't buy cheap ones.

Also any rope seller will more than likey sell them as well.
