How to filter messages/interests?

Sorry if this is vauge or strange, but to try and explain myself: I'm trying to find and make connections with other lesbians on this site, but most of what i am getting messages from or views from are straight, older men and i feel bad every time i have to explain that i am not, in fact, looking for men.
I already have my sexuality on my profile, and i don't have enough *** for an upgrade so...any ideas of what to do?
Or a place i can go that narrows down my list of interests and interactions?

So if you open your inbox/messages

there's a little cog that is 'settings'

You can then turn on filters to control who can message you

There's filters there including

Gender, age, whether they have a pic or are verified or so on.   Hope that helps
