I am close to someone going through what you are. I am the first person he "came out to". I helped him go to the stores and find clothing (acting like I was trying them on and he was the "dutiful bf". I did his makeup, I helped him find a wig. He hasn't gone out yet, mostly because finding a place where he feels anonymous enough to try it requires "travel ***" that he just doesn't have (and he won't accept my help). But of all places, that is the one where you can do anything and not only not be judged, but not be "normal" even when people recognize what you're doing.
