One thing I said somewhere recently is that, at first when I joined a lot of fetish sites I was dismayed and felt that there was a lot of men for the women to choose from and also, they probably get so many shitty messages that it's harder to have a chance etc.

But, actually.

You can very quickly remove a lot of guys from the pool.
Let us say someone posts that she is looking for someone - yes, her mailbox will blow up.

Buuuut...
Remove the people who are too far away
If she is looking for mono remove the people who are poly, if she is looking poly then remove the mono
if she is sub/switch/Dominant then remove all those who don't fit what she is looking for
because she will get messages from all of those
Remove all the 'heys'
Remove all the inappropriate messages
Remove all guys whose timelines "tell on them"
And suddenly, providing you are loosely what she is looking for - a respectable messages then goes along way.
Sure, she might still not reply, you might not be what she is looking for.  But if she says "I got 100 replies and most of them were arseholes" you can at least hope you're not an arsehole

Again we come back to the point in one of the previous forum posts about the importance of profiles. A lot of people will say that they don't read them, but I find them invaluable in deciding if I'm going to reply to someone. If they have put under fantasies, Ask me and a single line under their description, something like "just looking to see what's here" or worse "I prefer getting to know someone rather than filling these in, so hit me up with any questions", I am instantly put off. If you can't put the effort into creating a profile to help me see the kind of person that you are, what else can't you be bothered putting the effort into?

yep - it's common when it's "anything you want to know just ask" - ok, well give some form of basis

Online dating has a pretty large gender imbalance. I don't know about in person since I don't participate in group meetings.

Women Im sure get way too many messages which probably makes it shitty resulting in them leaving.

I think they need to limit the number of messages sent to a new contact to one a day. This would make people be more selective and reduce the flood.

although what is a male and a female? especially in this context, and is trans a gender? that might confuse the pic a little bit

most stats usually are bias towards cis

depending on policy in territory then (rightfully) trans women are counted in women and trans men counted in men

Usually people like intersex, non-binary, genderfluid usually get counted by their 'assigned' gender which does often feel like a lack of representation

A lot gets very cisheteronormative

People who are not-cis make up about 2% of the population which is both a lot (over 1m people in the UK) and seemingly small (I mean, 2%)

Precisely why I added  "other" to my OP.

I try to understand it but to be honest I don't. So I be as respectful as I can to everyone and hope that's enough
