I personally would rather read more. It gives me a greater insight into someones character, as well as sexuality.

Me too

So, after your post I got chatting with a mate... Kinda ended up becoming a bet? 😂 - Who can write the most brutally honest dating site bio... 😂😈😇
.
The rules were, it had to be for real. No lying. It had to be totally honest and in-depth. It stays up until independence day. It had to be long enough to count as boring. But could be any dating site we choose, (she's vanilla).
.
And while I may be single for a while, I think I won...
.
(She's not actually gotten back to me yet, strangely?). 😂😳😈👌🤦

If the essay is boring and narcissistic, then yes.

Some of the nicest men I’ve met on here have long, interesting, detailed “essays“ that give a flavour of their experience, attitudes and philosophy of life. They’re not boring at all.

I don’t necessarily agree with this point of view, I’m just saying it’s a common one. I’d rather go for “interesting enough to talk to” and still leave something to talk about afterward.

I have recently come out of a narcissistic relationship and the manipulation and deceit are incredible. I’ve learned you shouldn’t give too much info up front because those toxic people will just
Mimic and become that and pretend to have this connection with you. These people make life so complicated.

Personally I prefer a longer profile. When searching, I feel those who have put the effort in to complete their profile more than just a few lines, are more inclined to want a ltr.

For myself, I like to ensure the information I feel is important is there to be seen, in order to (hopefully) filter those that aren't compatible.

I also think there's a difference between too much information, and a long profile. Some profiles can be long, but still not really share much/any information.

I'm thinking of rewriting mine

I didn't think you had a bad or uninformative bio, actually it gave me just about enough information 😊 That said, if you want to rewrite, there will always be additions or alterations that can be made to any profile (I do to mine every so often).
