Witchcraft and kink

Hello you kinky ppl. I see quite a bit of witchcraft/Wicca(the two are not the same)related jewelry in pics on kink sites as well as more than a few screen names that could be construed as originating from the craft. If there's any interest, I'd like to start a discussion on this and give my unique view on the matter.
Why, you say, should we care what you think? Well, for one, I'm a practicing witch, raised in the craft by ole Momma Dukes(who was a hippie witch from back in the day)over 50yrs ago. I'm also a demonolatrix(regularly worshipping and working with the Nine Demonic Divinities and the Sacred Lady Lilith) as well as have a finger or two in many different disciplines. I also may make ya laugh along the way.
Any thoughts? Feedback both positive and negative are completely welcome.
So, my first question is ...do you think the ppl wearing the jewelry have any idea what it is? I'm willing to bet dollars to donuts that even if they do, most are not going about using said item correctly.

Well, jewelry Symbolism and practices are completely based on personal beliefs. Kinda in the same sense of tarot card readings... theres too meny ways to count on reading them, One mans trash is another mans treasure - one type of good deed is another persons sin. I guess it all depends on research and speculating lol. Im vary new to the craft and just got new tarots, orical cards and sages.

a bit like fetish; a lot of people like the designs or symbols or fashion but don't know what it means - so, yep, they'll wear it without a clue

I'm a solitary practitioner and am pretty private about it. Yes, I know what the symbols mean.

I’ve studied theology and history since I was a kid. The cultures and practices around Witchcraft, Wicca and even VooDoo are often misconstrued. Most people seeing bad or wholly inaccurate examples of these beliefs on television and in movies and assuming they’re accurate. The State and church still work diligently to keep people from learning anything factual about fringe belief systems. Because Christianity has done so well. 😜

There's a lot of crossover. Lots of kinksters are also pagan in some form

I'd argue that the whole point is that everyone has many symbols that represent their own comprehension of Plato's divine Form (everyone's perspectives on the divine). Thinking you have a grasp on the "correct" comprehension is what defines your religion, not a refined spiritual understanding. The wearers of witchy symbols can understand you without being pagan and they can be pagan without understanding your belief systems. Knowing what a book or group of people says about the spirit doesn't make you more right or understanding of it. It makes you more educated. Education is a privilege, not the correct way to learn.

You may call her Lilith. I may call her grief. The point isn't the word we use but the feelings we recognize when the word is said aloud, much like a verbal spell. Why do you care, is my question. That's like saying someone wrote their fanfic wrong. Pagan beliefs are meant to inclusive, interactive, and socially-based. It is a changing language used to describe the natural world, which isn't always the same. Your symbols are only symbols. The spirit doesn't care unless you do.
You know who else was pagan? Every single religion ever that didn't need a book. It's about MUTUAL understanding, not canonized stories. They might have something to teach you about letting go of the 'right' way to make room for the compassionate way.

^^^ This. Something sounded very gatekeep-y about OPs post and this put my feelings about it into words eloquently.

Hello I practice many different spiritual beliefs from the 8way path in Buddhism, animism, paganism and also enjoy researching runes mostly elder futhark, Icelandic staves, sigil magic. to me it's not about the jewelry it's about learning as much as I can about different views. How I was raised was to keep an open mind in all matters including religion, sexuality, culture, and spirituality. I for one would love to hear anything about anyone's believes and practice. I like to learn as much as I can when it comes to my spirituality and sexuality but I don't necessarily group them into one category together. Often times I'm only going of my own research as I don't have many friends that share my love for knowledge and much like the kink community saying wrong information can be super embarrassing but is necessary for personal growth and liberation. I dont understand the purpose of this post tbh. This just sounds like you're stroking your ego to feel like your path is more valid while simultaneously invalidating anyone else who might share your belief ... why assume they don't know the significance of their jewelry ? Sounds a bit gatekeepy to me

Witchcraft is and always will be political- we are constantly defending ourselves from outside pov thinking we are terrible people, we don't need that within the community as well.

I want to go a different route with this... you ever thing that they just like it and wearing it makes them happy? I feel we should just let them do what they want to do and not judge them on something as simple as accessories that they wear.

@abruckhouse what's with all the hostility? I didn't attack anyone or anything. But whatever I said sure set you on your ear. Please, if you don't understand the post, just ask. My ego needs no stroking, it's big enough, trust me. But since stroking WAS mentioned.....

@Wade6655. I don't care what ppl wear. But I'd like to help them understand what it is, if they were interested. I think I may have worded this thread incorrectly (not the first time I've opened mouth and inserted foot). It's not meant to attack or belittle at all. I'd never try and shame anyone...ppl in glass houses.

Oh Lord Satan help me. Listen, I swear this wasn't an attack, or a my way is right your way is wrong kind of thing. I deal with ppl like that daily and it makes me cringey. I know I'm wrong more times than right on some days. That's the problem with this type of conversation, for me at any rate, because I can't get the point across I was trying to make unless you can see the hand gestures, sound effects, the side bar story and the facial expressions.

@snugglefux I never said you were I was just doing a blanket statement to cover the fact that ppl are unique and we just need to let them be themselves. If they are curious they will look into it

The biggest issue with text communication is it cuts out tone and without tone certain sentences can be taken in different ways.
Key & ***le do an excellent skit on this.
In a lot of cases it’s our own mood inferring the tone. I know I’ve been guilty of this more than once. It’s one of the reasons that I like emojis so much. It kind of allows you to show your tone. Be it thoughtful 🤔, angry 😡, silly 😜 or supportive

^^^...or just exhausted by the towering, ivory sentiment of it all🙄. It still doesn't matter what any of us thinks of their symbol-usage 😑.

To explain another way:
Why not ask THEM if they're ignorant to -your unique world view- regarding their art, instead of us... unless you're just as afraid of their backlash as ours 😐? I would be. 🤫

Let them be. Nothing can be done without their permissions.😉

Anybody read any good grimoire lately..? I know I have

I've studied religions everyday for over 20 years.

I would like to talk about your craft philosophy. I personally am a practitioner and am open minded dedicated to all beliefs. I would live to hear your take on how the craft works with in the universe.

Well crap I don't remember what "dictated" was supposed to be but it wasn't that. Sorry

I'm well aware of my jewelry and have been a practicing Witch / Pagan for over 25 years. I agree that some will pick up a piece they think is cool, but usually when asked and they don't know, I'll ask why they were drawn to that piece and offer to explain the significance.
