Any other crafters?

Ok. So this may or may not be an oddball question, considering where I'm asking it lol, but I'd like a little insight if possible. I'm a crafter. I like the make/build things. My main medium is crochet but I absolutely know my way around a sewing machine too. I've recently been giving serious thought to making my own restraints. I have some ideas floating around in my head about what I'd like to do, I'm just curious if anyone else has experience with doing this and if so, I'd like to hear any suggestions, tips/tricks, etc... Above all my main concerns are of course safety, and comfort as when I'm restrained it's usually for long-ish periods of time. Thanks in advance for any and all advice! 💕

Hi! this girl is a crafter as well. The best medium for restraints is leather.

Leather works pretty good. You can even start by using old belts.

Leather and shibari rope would be your mediums

I love devices and special equipment. Like things that connect all over the body and metal bonsage stuff. There are so many options with spreader bars to. @Th4tFl0w3rL4dywhat do you have in mind, any ideas and concepts standing out in particular?

I'm thinking of making something with a collar type thing, with a metal ring at the back of the the neck. Feed a strap through the ring. Attach ankle cuffs to the strap. The idea would be that when on my back, if I put my legs down I'll *** myself. When on my hands and knees, partner can pull the straps an *** me. Kinky yet versatile lol

I’m a crafter too. I bought some leather and some tools from the cheaper end of the market and I’ve made a couple of small things to practice. The first thing I did was a little harness for my Wi-Fi router 😁

I work with leather, and make all my restraints, collars, harnesses, and you can make them as comfortable or as harsh as you want, from day wear to extended harsh sessions...
Definitely make your own, you'll be happier with them. 😁

I’ve got a lathe and an laser engraver.
Make bowls and tealight holders on the lathe mainly and burn images onto birch ply for wall art on the laser engraver x

As I leather worker my skills can be easily transferred to making of restraints of all types , I normally line the inside of the leather with a softer material for comfort such as soft toweling

Oh nice. Please message me when you do as I love supporting small businesses ( if you ever decide to go into business). I'm also willing to test and give feedback

I’m a crocheter too and I wondered about crocheting something myself ( a flogger maybe) or lingerie

I do a lot with Paracord for restraints and leashes etc. Also played about with resin for paddles. Trying my hand with leather for body harnesses but it's tough!

You can buy some cool bdsm crochet patterns. Not sure how usable it all is, but cool nevertheless

I'm a maker and I do wearables. Make sure you follow whatever guidelines for safety exist for what you're making. You can start by purchasing something similar and modifying it. Usually other makers are pretty helpful. I know one in Perth who does collars and harnesses if you want a link, River is her name.

I have all that in my toybox but nothing home made. Posture collars with hoops are great for predicament bondage.

Dildo machines

Theres a thread on here somewhere about this. I also find those BJ machines with a head harness and other bondage amazing, they *** the head to go back and forward, and there is even s***d settings. Surely custom made is the only option?

I primarily work with leather.
I started with furniture grade, making pouches. I've also used it for a variety of floggers and have used some thicker stuff for cuffs

It really is, isn’t it? I thought it might be something I could make to sell when my previous craft got too hard for my hands - all that hammering - it’s just as bad!

I sometimes weld stuff and make special effect props

Soft fluffy floor rugs and beat up motorcycle gear!! The floor rugs can be picked up for 20 quid from any bargain home store. They're great for the interiors, the harder thicker layers mean you can have buttons, thin poppers but I personally like a Strong velcro to fix the interior to your leather or metal etc as it can be cut to fit the contours of you arms and avoid the arteries and its flatter so its less uncomfortable if cut right. I recommend the kind of velcro you find on motorbike gear or from an army surplus depot. The good thing about the motorbike gear is you can get it second hand and then boom you've got the cheap leather, the strong velcro and also many already come with foam made to fit elbows knees and shoulders that are extremely comfortable already and can be incorporates straight into more complex designs and apparatus.

Having the interior detachable makes it so much easier to clean, rather than scrubbing it with a brush you can just throw it in the washing mashine but better yet it gives you the option of adding covers over or instead of the thick fluffy flooring interior. . aswell . I. E silk one day, something a little rougher like that thick lumberjack flannel the next, open fluffy floor mat interior the next. Your limits are your own at that point.

I knit, crochet, and sew currently
I just dyed my own ropes for the first time on Friday and am really pleased with the outcome.
I would love to get further into dying and then maybe raising angora rabbits for their fur- it makes such wonderful yarn!
I also dabble in stained glass, pottery (I do love throwing a bowl on the wheel!), and knitting pattern designs
