Nature vs nurture. I can promise you it does. Repression makes people seek the smallest of freedoms and the more repressed one feels in one way or another… usually the more fully they embrace the kink that works for them

Sure life experiences of course shape the people we are and can shape our sexuality to an extent, (though there's a whole nature vs nurture debate to be had too) that's only natural, but sweeping generalisations and stereotypes don't always hold true either.

Ive had several conversations about this recently. I think who we are now either sexual or whatever comes a lot from our childhood.
Both good experiences and trauma.

Can I be contrary?? I think that your anecdote sounds more like rebellion. I was always surrounded by strong women, very few strong men and subsequently I feel subordinate to women and wish to give myself over to one. There was an element of sexual liberation in our family is so far as no one was ever shamed for it and all were equal. That led me down a different fetish path though! Certainly our environment shapes us though, I completely and wholeheartedly agree with that!!

I definitely think ones life plays a factor into what they are into or not into.
Whether they are going it as a whole person or a traumatized/victimized mindset is a different story and everyone is different/has different reasonings for what they like and what roles they want to play

There are so many reasons and life experiences that could have an impact on kinks and complete hard limits or even sexual preferences.
A lot of my kinks and fantasies I didn't realise were actual things in this hidden world of many like minded people. And even then I didn't realise just how many people are in this community and have the same kinks and fantasies!
But after meeting people, physical experiences, research, studies, tests, experimenting they do totally make sense now I've took the time to learn the WHY's.

Finding out common responses for why people would like that certain thing made me feel so much more "normal" and at ease about myself and sexual desires.

I find it pretty cool listening to stories of why and where and when people relate real life experiences to their kinks! Always something new to learn!😸😻
