Deleted Member Posted August 16, 2022 Posted August 16, 2022 Is there anyone in here who has epilepsy who has any suggestions or ideas on how they can make BDSM sessions safe, whilst maintaining the kinky factor? Thanks x
CopperKnob Posted August 17, 2022 Posted August 17, 2022 I'd suggest this is communication with the other party/s and your knowledge of how the epilespy presents itself. Discussion around any known triggers, what a seizure looks like, what action/1st aid may be required including any protocol re VNS/Buccal. Most with epilespy will have a care plan drawn up by an Epilespy Nurse specialist/Consultant Neuro which may be shared/discussed. I'm surr that there's more factors for consideration, this is simply me sharing my limited knowledge of the condition/NEADs
Deleted Member Posted August 17, 2022 Author Posted August 17, 2022 Always have a quick escape plan! Eg if using rope, have a knife or scissors to hand. Know what to do in the event of a seizure and make sure you/whoever will be the caregiver in that moment is comfortable with providing this level of care. Stay calm in the event of a seizure. There may even be instances where the restraints provide some stability-but don’t guess what these circumstances might be if you are not the epileptic. Discuss all eventualities with your play partner.

We’ve agreed our normal safe words, but we’ve also agreed an additional one if I feel a seizure coming on, and need to be released fast.
Deleted Member Posted August 17, 2022 Author Posted August 17, 2022 People can have strong reactions when they’ve never seen someone have a seizure! It can be very frightening for those watching 😬 Make sure your partner is level headed and knows what to do.

I will make sure my Dom keeps calm and knows what action to take.
