Firstly it’s important to communicate with your partner so the can understand your feelings for taking a “break” When your in a 24/7 D/S relationship and your partner is your actual irl partner/lover taking a break could be a good thing for both partners to relax from the usually amount of intimacy, and control and discover other avenues of play. But I would refrain from taking too long of a break, as it could cause your partner to lose trust and respect for you. Make sure your partner understands your meaning of a “break” A break could mean you want to date other partners, keep communication to a minimum or your permanently breaking up with them.
