When I first found bdsm I ignorantly interpreted it as punishment and deprivation. Through my first experience with an open minded older women I found the excitement of practicing obedience and reward, my sensual pleasure came from exploring and finding others pleasure in ways they possibly hadn’t even thought of, and delivering it through corrective behavior. The Just curious to know how everyone’s different opinions on the subject and how it’s changed overtime for you?

I think we are all have misconceptions when we start. Hopefully when we find somebody that teaches us what D/s really are.

I’m new to the scene too. I had misconceptions too. I’m in a Dom/sub relationship with my boyfriend. I though the Dom had all the power. I didn’t understand what the sub got out of it until I became one. I love it now.

In the beginning, I was still so stuck in what I was "supposed" to be/do even a bit after my first few experiences. Now, the biggest thing for me is knowing the difference between what my mind and my body react to. My perception was, as a male, I HAD to be a certain way, and being a sub was just lazy on my part. Once I finally experienced it, everything changed for me. More importantly, everything just got better. My confidence went way up, and my understanding of myself became clearer. Just actually knowing what I want in general is an awesome feeling after being stuck for so long with this one-sided perception of myself.
