Deleted Member Posted November 14, 2023 Posted November 14, 2023 (edited) Is this a bug? Im intrigued what the legal reasons are lol Edited November 14, 2023 by Deleted Member
ey**** Posted November 14, 2023 Posted November 14, 2023 this used to happen when someone from the US tried to view an account from anywhere else in the word that had a Dominatrix profile (i.e. offers paid services)
PixieDust Posted November 14, 2023 Posted November 14, 2023 The message will also appear when a profile is in transition of being switched over to a Dominatrix profile.

Se**** Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 It means the account requested some form of payment for a good or service. Monetary transactions are not allowed on this website. Findoms get banned instantly. Same with people selling content.
ey**** Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 no, there's literally two reasons. 1) if you are in the US and the person has a Dominatrix profile 2) you are based anywhere and the profile is in the process of being moved to a Dominatrix profile and the user is yet to accept the changes A Dominatrix profile is available only outside the US, a user pays slightly more and has a € sign on their account. This means they can be approached to discuss, or discuss with you, paid services. They're not very popular in the UK and most countries, but are hugely popular in Germany. So a user literally can go on and search for a Dominatrix and it brings up people in their area they can pay for a session. But they HAVE to have a Dominatrix profile for this.
jo**** Posted November 15, 2023 Posted November 15, 2023 So it could be a report of under age people and its being reviewed, in the state of Indiana it could be someone posting a nude or sexual photo without consent (felony here), it could be for allegations of prostitution, the list goes on and on...

Is the reason they're illegal in the us, because it falls under the umbrella of (forgive me) prostitution? I am not suggesting just didn't know any other word to use. (***y hell being neurodivergent at times sucks)

I am not suggesting just didn't know any other word to use. (***y hell being neurodivergent at times sucks) So - since this post was made, the site has now discontinued Dominatrix profiles - they were extremely common in Germany, but not so much elsewhere - and of course, so yes Germany has very different sex laws to other countries But yeah, kinda, when SESTA/FOSTA came in a lot of sites did not know how to respond to this, and while some were willing to stand ground - for others it was too risky a battle - under the old rules, all online sales were banned (and still are) which I feel was more through a choice then legal compliance because, to be honest, when your main market is dating then being full of people selling doesn't really work So the old rules - Dominatrix profiles were used in a kinda "Mistress Directory" way for people who wanted to seek out paid providers. And of course, this sort of directory/listing goes against SESTA/FOSTA And some stuff becomes using a hammer to smash a nut, because (a) some Dommes do offer sexual services, some do not and regulating what people can and cannot offer becomes difficult to monitor (b) US laws on Professional Dominatrixes is a bit of a mess. My knowledge isn't that great, but I believe a lot varies by territory on whether it is classed as "prostitution" regardless of if penetration takes place So in short, yes. But in long, regardless of what a site does or doesn't allow - there's a lot of laws around sex work I don't agree with and SESTA/FOSTA is a big one
Fa**** Posted November 8 Posted November 8 Thank you. My only question is what are sesta/fosta, but there is Google or chatgpt
Fa**** Posted November 8 Posted November 8 I completely agree with you on that after having read about it. While I may agree with the stated intent (Title); it seems they specifically neglected to define trafficking. Instead, trying to regulate morality. Several of the IRC sites I use to use, shut down shortly after the law passed.
ey**** Posted November 8 Posted November 8 yep - exactly; funnily I had a similar conversation about something in the UK with the future regulators that it is important to keep things to the intended purpose, and not used as collateral for political gain that, ultimately, everyone agrees trafficking is wrong and that pimps are... well... not great. So no one will argue against laws controlling them, they can't. But when these laws are being sneakily used for collateral is a different story
