Anyone else experienced this fetish? (Relates to Damsel-in-Distress)

I've only recently started to open up about my fetishes as for years I felt ashamed of them - I've come to realize my specific fetish probably isn't all that uncommon but I'm yet to find anyone else whose fantasies exactly match mine, and am just curious about whether others have experienced anything similar...

My fetish seems to be a variation on the damsel-in-distress fetish. Growing up I used to get a strange excitement watching female characters on TV shows getting captured - for instance shows like He-Man, I would often find myself secretly hoping that Teela or The Sorceress or any other female would get captured - seeing women trapped and calling for help, or in a *** position of any kind, gave me a strange sense of excitement and I used to imagine myself being the hero, coming to rescue the damsel in distress.

I've come to find that many other people have experienced the same thing, but my fetish goes a bit beyond that. Watching TV then I was particularly shaken up by TV shows that actually LEFT the woman in her position of distress or treated it as something to be amused by, rather than having her rescued.

A major example of this (which will probably sound silly but it had a big psychological effect on me):

There was a TV show in the UK called Tickle-on-the-Tum, presented by the folk singer Ralph McTell and a female co-presenter, Jacqui Reddin. One episode of the show was about a camping holiday and ended with Ralph McTell singing a song about camping, while his co-presenter Jacqui sat in a tent pitched indoors, singing along with the song and dancing as she did so. As the song finished, Jacqui's dancing caused the tent to fall down right on top of her. It ended with a shot of the tent fallen on Jacqui, and she said "Oh no! Help...!" A few seconds passed, no one helped, then the show ended and the credits rolled. Obviously this was presumably supposed to be funny, but as a child I was more distressed by it.

So over time, the above scene and other similar ones I saw turned into sexual fantasies in my mind - I would replay the scenes in my head, but each time, replace the woman in the scene with a different woman I fancied. I built up a whole library in my head of scenes like this that I would picture different women I fancied starring in, and I would make up new ones as well. (There was also another, much weirder scene I saw on TV that had a particularly big effect on me but I won't go into that one here - happy to open up about it to anyone who's curious.)

This fantasy has persisted to the present day and for years I felt ashamed of it, but having recently spoken to a therapist about it, I've been assured it's actually very normal and that I should just have fun with it. It seems it relates in some way to certain  traumas - in my instance, my mother was a total narcissist and I often felt ignored and abandoned by her when I needed help, so these scenes of women being ignored or mocked in such situations distressed me because of the empathy I felt for them, partly because I was unable to myself 'help' these women since they were on TV, and so my brain turned it into a sexual arousal to give me a sense of control over it. Confiding it in some friends as well they've said the same as my therapist, that it's normal and harmless, and that I could probably find someone who'd enjoy acting them out with me. (If I found a partner who was up for it, we'd probably role play in imaginary kids' TV or daytime TV shows that would end with similar scenes.)

So anyway... just wondered if anyone here has experienced or heard of anything similar? Perhaps due to being Autistic, my fantasies tend to be extremely specific and focused on small details and seem very different from most people's, but I'm becoming more comfortable opening up about them and am very interested to know about other similar experiences...

Actually, when growing up, I did become sexually aroused when a woman was tied up. How things change when you age.😂

Hello, as a kink Dom fantasy role play is very common. I would say on average woman have that fantasy more than not. Fantasy due often stem from trauma and worked out through kink and play sessions. You are quite normal in your fetish.

Peril/Damsel in Distress is really, REALLY common. It's more of a genre of kink than a single fetish, lots of branches and variations. Did you tie her up or someone else? Does she get rescued? By you? Is there a ticking bomb under her chair? Is she a civilian Lois Lane type or the heroine in trouble? Wonder Woman's creator was in fact a kinkster himself and was open about how bdsm influenced his work.

I've also seen plenty that never 'progress' past the binding/peril element and just let it cook for a while.

Hell, considering the amount of peril scenes in media we saw growing up and even in mainstream blockbusters like Avengers, it's more surprising to think of someone who's never considered this.

So yeah, have fun with it. Go into your specifics, you're climbing a vast and many limbed tree

Whenever I’m requested for sessions, people often ask if they can kidnap me (best way to get me to their home from where they pick me up). As they are binding me, the often ask that I pretend like I’m reluctant or resistant. I think people like seeing women or female-looking people all captured and ***. Eye candy in a way

I’ve been asked by a lot of my dom’s to act reluctant or resistant when getting tied up. I think people like the feeling of capturing a female (or female passing) person and having them all tied up. It’s like eye candy. So I totally get your fetish and like it myself

Could this be the same vein as a Mario-esque fantasy? If I’m understanding I’d say younger “you” identified with Mario in this scenario and older “you” is sexually more inclined to identify with Bowser in these situations. Or would you identify as both versions sexually?

I never considered that fetish before. But I certainly am now!

I used to make porn and actually made a Damsel-In-Distress video about me falling out of my wheelchair and calling for help, but no one comes to save me. I thought why not? I'm not into it, but *** is *** and I felt comfortable making that scene. So, apparently it's more common than you think given people were requesting it from me.

I used to be a makeup artist and camera assistant to a Damsel in Distress content studio. It was a super fun job! The models would mostly be tied up in an assortment of ways and had to attempt to escape, but they'd always fail. I'm pretty sure you can still find the content. The name of the studio was call Bondage Damsels

I think child me identified with both hero and captor if I'm honest - and captive as well even. The way it took shape in my fantasies is probably more of a voyeur thing, since I don't have to be in them at all, I just picture the scene, imagining it being on TV, of the woman experiencing some sort of mishap - i.e. becoming trapped somehow, or falling into water, or just left in an awkward or humiliating situation (one fantasy for instance ends with the woman being stranded on the pavement in the rain after being soaked by a bus passing through a puddle) - and then the scene just ends, without showing if she gets helped or not. They all basically recreate the sense of distress I felt watching these scenes on TV as a kid at not being able to help the woman, except this time I'm actually in control, because I'm making up the scene in my head, if you follow me.

They're probably different from most damsel-in-distress fantasies because they don't follow the traditional action/adventure/fantasy capture and rescue scenario, they're more mundane in context and take the form of awkward mishaps that happen to the woman that are distressing for her but are treated as light-hearted or comedic, like the sort of comedic mishaps that would be staged on kids' TV or daytime TV shows. There's often a sense of camp and theatricality to them as well; a lot of them feature the woman performing a cheesy song and dance number before whatever happens to her happens.

Having said that I do like the more traditional damsel-in-distress role play scenarios as well, i.e. women in bondage, or being bound up or chained up myself and playing the role of a male 'damsel-in-distress' for someone else. I'd likely get as much enjoyment from acting in these scenes myself as I would seeing someone else act them out.

I'll check that site out, thanks!

It's definitely a relief to find this type of fantasy is not only normal, but seemingly pretty common.
