There has always been an undeniable connection between what we hear and how it makes us feel. Sad music makes you want to cry and dance tunes makes you want to, well do just that. So what kind of music should you listen to for getting down and dirty? What makes a perfect sex song? We asked our Fetish.com members to reveal those that make them want to get kinky and the results were… hot.
Of course, we know only too well that what turns each of us on can be very subjective. How do you define what makes a song sexy, or kinky? Nevertheless, some of the sex songs we received are quite common when choosing what to play in the bedroom, or dungeon. In fact, a couple of them were even put forward various times over.
The most popular sex songs were Nine Inch Nails - Closer, The Stooges - I wanna be your dog, Depeche Mode - Master and Servant and the absolute winner... Alice Cooper - Poison. Why these though? Take a little look at the lyrics:
Quote“You let me violate you
You let me desecrate you
You let me penetrate you
You let me complicate you”
Lyrics: Nine Inch Nails - Closer
It’s quite apparent that the Alternative rockers are into their BDSM - and perhaps they’re Doms. Does it sound like something you’d like to play for your slave? Or perhaps you prefer to lose control yourself. Well then - there’s a jam for you too.
Quote“You treat me like a dog
Get me down on my knees
We call it master and servant (...)
Domination's the name of the game in bed or in life”
Lyrics: Depeche Mode - Master and Servant
Depeche Mode take it one step further. Not only do they mention what sounds like some kinky-ass sexual play, they hint at the whole lifestyle and the dynamics it involves. If you’re in a committed 24/7 D/s relationship you’ll know exactly what they’re singing about.
Now for some more in-depth analysis. After compiling all the suggestions our kinksters gave us, we were able to see some very interesting sex song trends. What genre turns our kinksters on the most? You probably guessed it - rock. From heavy metal to indie, sex songs with guitar solos seem to get your blood pumping faster than anything else. Electronic music follows close behind. It’s not surprising - if you think about the kind of tunes blasted out at fetish parties.
Something unexpected? Perhaps you’d think a fundamental part of making songs sexy could be the kinky lyrics they have. Well, it turns out only 56% of the suggestions actually made any mention of sex. And when you start looking at the differences between genders, 70% of the sexually explicit songs came from the ladies. Men and other genders are apparently more aroused by subtlety. Who would have thought it?
Kinky friends, let us throw some other shockers at you;
So, what can we take away from all this? The most obvious conclusion is that, just like our sexual preferences, we all have distinct tastes in music - and that’s something to celebrate. How boring would life be otherwise? Secondly, it’s pretty clear to see, even if you’re just peering in from the vanilla world; us fetishists also go out, have fun, have sex and listen to music like everybody else - and fucking great music it seems. Enjoy the sex songs playlist, play it loud and revel in your kinkiness.
