After a few visits to some local sex shops, I decided to conduct my own condom taste test to see if that could encourage me to use condoms during oral sex. But which kinds were good? Did they taste as they claimed? If the condoms were anything like flavoured lube, I wasn’t feeling super confident about my choices. I was determined to try, though, so I picked up three brands in different flavours. Read on to see the full condom taste test review!
Strawberry
The smell of strawberries is one of my favourites. Upon first opening, I was excited. This was my first sampling, and the smell was great. I caught a whiff of strawberry right away. But after the condom was in my mouth, nada. I hardly tasted any flavour at all. Mostly, I tasted latex! Needless to say, I was disappointed.
Vanilla
Again, I was excited. I knew the vanilla had to have decent flavour. But I was wrong. Hardly any taste again.
Grape
And this is where I tossed the rest. Again, no flavour despite clearly being labelled ‘flavoured’. Sure, they smelled like grape. But no taste!
This brand isn’t great. These condoms were smallish and didn’t have much lubricant despite being lubricated. If you’re looking to try tasty condoms, I don’t suggest this brand if you want the condom taste to be strong.
Island Punch
I didn’t mind this flavour. I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect since Island Punch is really anything with mixed fruits, but it had a scent, it had taste, though I’m not sure how to accurately ‘describe’ that taste. Not bad, though, not my favourite.
Bubblegum
I was a fan of the bubble gum! The smell made me feel like a teenager again; having fun and exploring. This is a flavour I’d use again, and I didn’t notice the latex taste as much.
Banana Split
I also enjoyed the banana split. While it still had a bit of chemical taste (I find that with any of these sorts of products), I loved the idea of banana. It too was far stronger for me, like the bubblegum, so I enjoyed this one and would use it again.
These were smaller in size again, and they also had little lubrication. While I’m generally a fan of this brand, their flavoured line as far as ‘fit’ went wasn’t aligned with the non-flavoured variety.
This condom taste test might encourage the use of condoms during oral sex.
Mint
Had little scent, which also meant less flavour. The plus to this one is that it made my tongue tingle!
Chocolate
Sort of tasted like chocolate… I didn’t hate these ones, as they did have more flavour than the Trustex brand, but it didn’t taste entirely like chocolate to me. It could be the fact that I’m a chocolate snob, but I was really looking forward to this flavour. I might use it again, but it would not be my first pick.
They were larger than the other two, had far more lubricant (so might be better for moving from oral to intercourse), and they didn’t have flavourless flavours. I’d get this brand again.
All three of these brands had things in common:
I’d certainly use the Bubblegum, and Banana Split again, but my thoughts on most are, let’s get some real flavour! Something to cover that nasty taste of latex. Until then, I think I’ll stick to ONE’s Bubblegum flavour because feeling like a teenager again made my experience far more intense.
