Pony Play | How to Equip Your Stable

When it comes to pony play, there's a lot to consider: how to dress and discipline your ponyboy, for example. And for that, you'll need stock up on crops, whips, bits, and – if he's been a good boy – even the odd rosette. Pony play is a very rewarding form of BDSM activity in which one or more slaves are placed in the role of pony, with one or more dominants in the role of the pony trainers. The first thing to note about pony play is that it can be tailored to meet the requirements of the particular trainer, and the temperament of their human pony.

For example, it may be that the ponyboy requires a very firm hand from their trainer. In this case, the equipment should be designed to produce the results that the trainer requires quickly, and so that the ponyboy understands the requirement to meet with the trainer’s commands. With these ponies that need more discipline, the trainer’s stable needs to be equipped with whips, spurs and firm collars to make sure that the ponyboy does what he's told.

On the other hand, it may be that the trainer requires their ponyboy to be displayed to other trainers for riding or show. This requires the ponyboy to be decorated with a nice saddle or to be fitted into a cart so that they can pull along their trainer and their friends.

Transforming the ponyboy

Control of the ponyboy’s posture and appearance is particularly important if the training is to be a success. The ponyboy who is not able to stand correctly and trot in a pleasing fashion needs to be punished with a cropping or made to sleep outside.

One of the first things to consider is the fitting of the pony's hooves. Foot hooves are obvious, but the trainer can also consider the fitting of hand hooves for added control. These hooves are usually constructed from latex and/or leather.

Some trainers like their ponyboys to be naked for further humiliation, but it's useful to consider a full catsuit or bodysuit which makes it easier to add further items of tack, such as the bit and the bridle.

Bits can be obtained in all shapes and sizes. The most obvious of these is the ‘snaffle’, a rubber gag, but other leather and ball gags can be obtained. The bridle can be single or double and can be combined with a collar, or shock collar, to make sure that the ponyboy remains under the trainer’s firm control.

Ponyboys do not usually speak, although that is up to the trainer. As well as a gag, ties can be applied to the tongue (a simple rubber band can often suffice) which will restrict the ponyboy from speaking, and make sure that he fully respects the trainer’s commands.

Of course, ponyboys should be restrained, or otherwise engaged, when the tail is fitted. The tail is usually attached to a butt plug. For an authentic touch, the trainer may wish to fit a tail made of pure horsehair, but other variants are available.

Equipment for training pony play

Following transformation, ponyboys can experience many feelings. Some may become very compliant, whereas others can be wilful. In either case, it's a good idea to have a range of training equipment to hand.

Firstly, a series of whips and crops are required to smack the ponyboy in rebuke. These can be obtained from a fetish equipment supplier, but many trainers prefer to purchase these directly from real horse training suppliers. In some cases, trainers even use the same crops as employed by professional jockeys.

It may be easier to train a ponyboy if his eyes are restricted. There are several ways in which this can be done but the most common is to apply a training mask to the face, which allows some restriction of sight, but enough to see where the ponyboy is going for purposes of training.

It may also be necessary to restrict the ponyboy’s movement, and hobbles can be purchased which can stop the ponyboy’s legs from moving. Of course, trainers should also be ready to reward their ponyboy and having a lump of sugar, or a vegetable to chew on, are rewards that your ponyboy is sure to appreciate.

The working ponyboys

Of course, trainers want to make sure that their ponyboys are useful as well as for ‘show’. Every ponyboy will need to be fitted with a saddle for riding. The more adventurous trainers may even harness a number of ponyboys in a specially prepared cart.

Ponyboys can be used in a number of ways by their trainers, and there is no limit to the possibilities when training a ponyboy for show, or work.
