The words and images on the front page of chianed.org don't really match up. The image is striking but talks more of beauty and romance with rose petals and a pretty woman. However, the words are very kink, fetish and BDSM orientated. Once you get through to the main site, it's a little bit bland, boxy and grey. Not very exciting at all, but functional!
Chained.org has a smooth sign up process if you're male, female or a couple (since when was a couple a 'gender'?) Sadly, there are no other gender identity options available. Next, I was asked for my birth date and email and if I was a sub, Dom or a switch. I had to accept some terms and conditions and then got to pick from a short list of turn-ons before I could get a code via email to verify my chained.org account.
I was then able to write a little introduction and profile for myself, where I wrote the fact that I'm a masochist. I suddenly received a pop-up warning me that masochist was a word which might not get through moderation - which seemed a bit weird considering I'm putting a profile up on a kinky dating site! Once you've filled in your profile, it's a straightforward site to navigate. Everything is just a click away.

The chained.org blog section seems to be mislabeled as it's definitely more of a personal ads section. Most people writing there are looking for hookups, some share fantasies, but responses are limited and tend to be contact-orientated. If you like to use a personals section, this might be useful to you.
The forum seems to have the same setup. There are lots of posts, but almost all of them are people looking for hookups. It's difficult to actually interact in any other way. If you're looking for a hookup and not general chit chat with like-minded individuals this might be the kind of community you'd fit in with.
You can access most of the features at chained.org for free, but you need to upgrade to view photos and videos. Other than that, you can use everything else. Messaging is challenging, though. You can't send messages to everyone, and there are limits on how many you can send for free, but I've been unable to work out what the rules around this actually are. If you want to have an actual conversation via message, you need to upgrade.
A premium account costs £22.86 a month, but you can get reductions for signing up in bulk. However, I'd recommend checking out the site for free first to get a feel for the community.
On signing up, I got some hints and tips for using the site, but past that there's no FAQ or help page if you come across an issue. If you have a problem or question, you have to use the helpdesk to send a ticket. On writing this review, I'm not aware of how long tickets take to be answered.
There seem to be a good number of kinksters on chained.org. There are ways to connect with them for free, but the claim Chained.org is 100% free is a bit of an exaggeration. It's not easy to communicate without upgrading to a paid account, but it might be worth checking out for free first, to see if there are people into the same things as you are. As the community at large seems to be eager to hook up!
