Kinkdating.com has lots of user photos on the first page that range from the more professional to quick snaps like you see on most other kinky dating sites. The site is a strange mix of pink, black and yellow, but the text and photos are laid out well, so it doesn't look too bad.
For me, kinkdating.com is not very pretty visually; in fact, it's quite blocky and old-fashioned. However, it's not offensive to the eye, and it was straightforward to find what I wanted. There are a lot of adverts on the page, which I found very distracting - and due to the content of the ads, it's not a site to view in public without an ad blocker!
A peek inside of kinkdating.com - with ad blocker!
Sign up at Kinkdating.com is pretty quick and simple if you're a man or a woman, but what I found most disappointing is that no other gender option is listed. The questions that follow are quite standard, birth date and email address, for example. Once you've verified your email address, you're then asked to fill out your profile, which is where you let others know what you're into and what you're looking for. You can answer some multiple-choice questions too about how you look and post a photo.
All the essential links are down the left-hand side and in the top bar, so quite straightforward. Overall, I found kinkdating.com very easy to use.
I found that there isn't a community feel at all on kinkdating.com. It's all about dating, which is fine if you're one person looking for another singular person but any other number of people and you can't do it. There are no forums, and the chat function only allows you to speak to other members one-on-one.
Using the search function is easy and brings up lots of results. But, it's hard to work out how active a member is, and you can only contact them via Instant messenger without an upgrade - this is limited as you can only send IMs to people who are online at the same time as you.
You can browse profiles, but if you want to send a message to someone who isn't online, you'll have to spend your cash and upgrade.
Kinkdating.com has limited usage without upgrading your account. If you want to use the chat and search features and send messages to members who aren't online, you will need to upgrade. Prices start at $29.86 a month, but there are various deals for booking several months at once.
It is worth spending some time using the site for free to find out if there's any point paying to do more. I'd only advise signing up for multiple months at once after trialing it first. You might find it's not that useful and so paying a little more for one month to try it out makes better financial sense in the long run than buying a year's access and not using it.
There's an extensive list of FAQs, but I found it annoying that they opened in a separate window and there was no way to skip between answers. If I needed to look up different things I'd have to close the window, click on 'Help' on the main site again and find the question I was interested in - all over again. It'd be much easier if I could click back. However, there's lots of information from technical questions on how to use the site to enquiries about subscriptions. There's also a 'contact us' link so you can email if you can't find the answer to your specific question.
There seems to be a lot of users at kinkdating.com, but they're spread out all over the world. I didn't find it very easy to find kinksters in my area. The site is easy to use and has some limited usage for free. However, to get the full benefit, you'll need to get that upgrade!
