Churchofchains.com bills itself as a free alternative dating and social networking site for those looking for BDSM and fetish contacts. But how many dates of a kinky kind can you arrange? The site is basic, the background colour is solid black, and it looks just like any bog-standard message board — nothing particularly exciting at first glance. It's an easy site to navigate; however, all you need is in the top bar of the site, and you click through until you find the forum, blog or group you want to join. 

There are no apparent adverts, so apart from the churchofchains.com header, no one would know you were on a BDSM dating site if they glanced over your shoulder.

Churchofchains.com Navigation and User Feel | Free but not Swinging

A lot of dating sites are filled with adverts aimed at getting you to pay a premium to upgrade but not at churchofchains.com. There is no premium account available. Everything is free; what you see is what you get. 

It's easy enough to sign up too, just a simple form that includes gender, sexual orientation and D/s role. There are limited choices, but there are choices at least. It's better than some very binary sites, churchofchains.com is welcoming of LGBTQI and alternative lifestyles from the get-go. You can fill in an about me section and select who you're looking for then your profile is all filled in, and you're ready to go. 

Navigation is easy, with most of your actions found in the top bar. However there's not a lot of activity on the site, so you can look at what's there easy enough, but it all seems quite old and out of date. 

Churchofchains.com Community Feel | Where's the Party At?

Churchofchains.com has lots of community features, forums, groups and an instant chat that all work to bring members together. The problem is, there doesn't seem to be any other members!

I looked through lots of the groups, forums and blogs and didn't see a single post from this year, the most recent I noted was from December last year. I'm unsure where all the members are, maybe they're interacting by message, but I didn't receive any of those, either.  There are no recent events listed, so it does feel like a bit of a ghost town.
 

Is churchofchains.com Free? Yes, totally!

Churchofchains.com is completely free. There's no way to sign up for a premium account because they don't exist. You can use absolutely everything on site from the moment you sign up. What a refreshing change! So many BDSM dating sites have little to no usability without paying to upgrade.
 

Churchofchains.com Help and FAQ's | Straight forward

The help page lists lots of practical questions - from uploading photos and keeping them private, to explaining the rules over what can be uploaded publicly or not. If you don't find your answers, you can also send an email to ask for help.

Churchofchains.com Final Thoughts | Good site needs people

It's always good to have a site that's easy to navigate and has lots of opportunity for interaction. However, for this to turn into connections, then you need to have other people there too! Churchofchains.com is empty at the moment, which isn't great for finding a potential Dom or sub to play with.
