Cinema is great at using location to create atmosphere. So pretty much anything that happens in a spooky castle is going to have a heightened imaginative power. Then add ***, pursuit , peril and mystery.  The whole thing is an erotic crucible.  If that's a thing. Which it is now , in my imagination at least .

The primitive parts of the mind are easy to fool. The rational reasoned self is bypassed by some surprisingly simple triggers. Disorientation, shocks, sounds. Or scary stories no matter how simple. That's why we like horror . Our practical daytime selves can be put aside and an unerving and improbable fairytale can take over.

 

I bought a cd years ago of "scary sounds" for my Halloween party. Even though it was quite stereotyped Kitsch movie sounds like wolves , screams and manic laughter - after just a few minutes it was so disturbing I had to turn it off. 

 

So I'd like to play that on Bluetooth ear defenders and take my sub for a scary walk in the woods at night. No bears in the woods in the UK. Just squirrels and  kinksters.
