Can anyone reccomend a secure messaging service, also is it normal for a member to request chat on hangouts instead of here. Thanks.

Telegram and Wire are both fairly secure.

Usually people coming on trying desperately to get people off site (particularly to hangouts) is part of a scam.   It's worth reporting these and no longer engaging.

I suggested watts app but she said no, and I checked her profile details  2 pics 1 with brown eyes one with blue, also described herself as curvy but the picture I was sent of her was not curvy, so I deleted her from hangouts as it rang alarm bells

though regardless on the legitimacy; whatsapp gives away personal phone numbers.

Hangouts is usually a sure fire scammer as their location is hidden.

yep - it's difficult to trace on hangouts so they can run the scam a little easier.

But then, that's also possible on some of the secure ones also.  Kik can be rife for scams, I think less popular for long games because there's often uncertainty of if it will still open as a platform

be Weary of scammers. Ask lots of questions, and if you don't feel comfortable don't go off this site.

Kik is still available - and there's a "Lynx" version that removes the ads and adds a few extra features. Its used a lot by people to chat, and its anonymous, no phone numbers needed.

Wickr.me is good, encrypted etc and doesn't require a phone number either.

Frankly, if its a scam, you'll figure it out and then delete them - or better still, string them along and waste their time they'd spend scamming others. And that can be fun!

I was worried in case my phone could be hacked via hangouts, I'm all up for stringing them along lol.

of course, never use your real hangouts/whatever because you'll find its address passed to other scammers. Get a new one specially for chatting to untrrusted people.

which is part of the scam.

this is then something they'd use as collateral in a blackmail attempt.

If you use hangouts,presumably your email address is available, then your email account becomes compromised and so too your router and hub. You become used as a piggyback for trash that's then flooded through your email to wherever and whomever the scammer wants to "hit"...all at your internet account's expense. Beware!!!

Wikr is the norm, encrypted messages 

Kik is dying as nobody trust it anymore for years and not safe 

as mentioned above hangout is use by scammers and fake

A bit over the board as routers are normally secure in the UK. Just created a junk email account separate from your day life ones.

if you do end up doing a lot of kink heavy stuff : it's often a good idea to have a separate email for all your kink stuff : if nothing else to stop social media overlapping (i.e. vanilla friends stumbling on your kink stuff - or - you sending nude pictures to someone that can then find you on facebook....)

if you're in a position to have two phone numbers that can also go a long way (I just have the one so don't/rarely give it out)

I find that this site is pretty secure. Only when i feel like I know the person do i move to other platforms like whatsapp or kik

I actually work in the secure comms side of things and it all depends on what your looking todo. Folk have all covered off scams and scammers right? For my 2p I'd have to say signal
