Why is someone allowed to win photo competitions with Ai generated images for a year

One Ai generated profile has won competitions for last year with Ai images the images most likely are based on only face and the rest is Ai generated. The bigger problem and what I don't understand is winning the breast cancer awareness or even Halloween competition with Ai images no shame at all for seriousness of the subject or the effort and time people spent on these competitions.

Hello @Mussa,

We understand the problem. But unfortunately, we certainly have to draw boundaries. These boundaries are blurred, of course. At what point is it too much editing, at what point can you no longer recognise the person and their profile? It is important to us that the person submitting the picture also matches the profile picture(s) - or the fake check picture.
If the scar on the leg has been retouched out, for example, or the pimple, then it is still the person.
We have members who submit pictures that have been taken by a professional photographer. Of course, they don't want to submit their work ‘badly’, so things have certainly been changed. But we also have members who submit selfies with their mobile phones in front of the bathroom mirror. But we also want a certain aesthetic and have to weigh things up.
If you recognise that a picture has been - subjectively - edited too much, you can rate it accordingly. Nobody has to give it 5 stars. If these images then win, it is because they have been rated accordingly by the community. WE ‘only’ release the pictures, the community ultimately decides.

Sorry but that's a cop out.  AI-generated images can be, by their very nature. aesthetically pleasing.  That's what many people are voting on.  To say that you can vote down AI images is a joke.

Fet needs to ask whether this is a photo (regardless of how much filtering and editing).  If it's not, then it shouldn't be accepted in the competition.

Again I'm not saying editing I'm talking about full body and background Ai generated like sometimes gowring 6 fingers the full body and clothing and background joining such a competition that need cosplay and someone comes with no effort generating the cosplay that's deciving who want to be in competition with such thing

If AI imagery can feature then it’s a different competition. I understand it’s sometimes difficult to discern between a genuine shot and a fake one, but it’s doable. It’s a genuine question when a lot of people on here will go to the effort to take a good photo to enter, and whilst it’s just a bit of fun, Fet, you may want to consider both updating rules to ban AI photos and create AI specific competitions if you do want it to feature. Failing that, whoever is reviewing entries should reject any they are unsure of.

Its literally discernable even as described in the title for the contest. It is a photo contest, not an image contest and therefore images generated should not be put against pohtos that have been taken.

Quite. Therefore, fet should further state in print the strict rules for such. Seems a simple thing to do despite the decision/making process to arrive at it being perhaps more arduous…

That's kind of an odd response considering the the rules in the TOU for photos essentially prohibit AI generated images to be presented as an accurate representation of an individual. They get reported and removed from people's profiles all the time so why would they even be allowed in a photo contest to begin with.

Or have the TOU been changed?
