Hey. The wife and I are new to this app and am looking for conventions and shows near us. We are in southern Iowa and are looking for help in finding groups, lessons, and displays for us to view and learn. If anyone knows of ways to find more information, please tell me! You don't need a convention.
Just sign up to fetlife*, and look for classes and parties in your area of your state. You may need to drive several hours. That is just how it is.

And read.
Reading is your best friend.
A really good (but old) but still very good book to start with is SM 101, by Jay Wiseman.
He is an expert in many legal cases, and his writings are very worthwhile to read in entirety.
