Difference between a kink and a fetish?

Recommended Posts

The words have different meanings fetish is something you like to include while kink is something you need to include. I may have gotten that the wrong way around as I tend to use the words interchangeably as I’m sure many others do.
I always thought that a fetish is a physical thing, a foot, spit etc.. but a kink is an act such as spanking, ball busting
Kink is the umbrella. And fetish is the categories.
Anyone can be kinky but what categories do you fall under
Bondage
Foot
Pet
Age
Dom/sub
Needles
I can be kinky with multiple fetishes.
A kink is a broad term that refers to unconventional sexual practices, interests, or fantasies that enhance sexual pleasure, such as BDSM or role-playing. A fetish, on the other hand, is a specific sexual attraction to a particular object, body part, or activity that is essential for sexual arousal, such as a foot fetish or a latex fetish. In essence, all fetishes can be considered kinks, but not all kinks are fetishes.
Kinks are things you enjoy doing, like bondage, sensory, impact or role play.
Fetishes is more, a strong attraction for or arousal from, a specific thing, like certain body parts or particular objects, materials or clothing.
A fetish is something you require to be present in order to achieve sexual arousal. A kink is a sexual preference, you’d rather it was there, but you’ll cope without it
they are not interchangeable. a fetish is something that is required in order for someone to get off. a kink is something that enhances sexual experiences but is not required.
So what if your kink is denial. It's absolutely, but you don't get off🤣🤣

Tell me you don’t understand denial without telling me

It’s the difference between using a feather or the whole chicken.

Hhmmm, benefits of being an ugly child. Friendship city

Kink is a "sphere" that refers to a broad focus on desires or practices. Fetish is a specific focus on a body part, an object or activity. A fetish a type of kink but not all kinks are fetishes.
Ain't they just different word but means the the same really 🤷🏼‍♂️
Or maybe your kinks define your fetishs, as in categorises your kinks. I suppose it helps if explaining who you are, but I find labels are limiting a little
According to the DSM-V a fetishistic disorder is when you can only get aroused with an object. It must also cause the person distress. If it doesn't cause distress it's just a paraphelia or fetish. A kink is something that can arouse one but not exclusively. It's important to distinguish the two because the difference is important when you're discussing needs in a relationship. If you are a fetishist vs a kinkster, your partner may need to be more aware what that means for how you work sexually.
As I understand it, the difference is fetishes are needs and kinks are wants. A fetish describes specific needs for sexual arousal. A kink is just some cool shit you really like doing.

That’s my understanding too, either way we all need to ensure the words we use are understood by all parties to be mean the same things.

Good to know, i just kinda just used as synonyms… consider me enlightened😋
Kink is wederom. Fetisj means sexual arousal with thing normaal not associated with sex. For instance intelligente. Which is normaal not consumeren a fetisj but actually is.

Kinky is liking heels. Fetish is f**king them instead of the person.

I need gloves to be on a partner to orgasm...at least in my case the object alone is insufficient
