The faded grandeur of the old drawing room.  High ceiling.  Specks of dust in the afternoon sunlight.  An old, wooden table.

Coarse, hempen rope.

Pretty hands. Bound wrists. Arms stretched out towards the corners of the table.

Soft cheek resting on the rough wood. Green eyes. Strong, defiant tears.

Bare shoulders, bare back.  Breasts squashed against the table. Pale skin moist with sweat.  

Bare legs spread wide.

Feet on tiptoes, ankles bound to the table legs, one flip-flop fallen off.

Knickers round one ankle. Bare buttocks.  Four red lines.

Mistress in a long dress, standing by the table.

Bare arms, flowing hair. Unmerciful eyes.

The well-worn cane in her raised hand, at the beginning of its stroke.
