How to deal with anxiety from new things

Recommended Posts

So I got my first tattoo last year for my 18th birthday and I enjoyed it a little too much lmao. The thing is I got super light headed and passed out a bit because of my *** of needles. The *** was a little bit too much but that overwhelming feeling felt so cathartic and it was like nothing else mattered in the world. I knew I liked ***, but I never thought *** like this would be enjoyable. I want to get another one so badly but along with how expensive tattoos are I’m also super anxious about feeling that way again. It’s not a bad anxiety, it’s just an intense *** and it scares me a little lol. Are there any things I can do to get over that anxiety? Is it normal to be anxious about trying new kinks and fetishes? Is it okay for me to go to my artist for my next tattoo or should I find someone who tattoos specifically for fetish reasons? This isn’t really for sexual pleasure so I don’t feel as awkward going to the artist that did my first one. Thank you for any advice! I greatly appreciate any help!
You probably are addicted to the initial adrenaline rather than the ***, though that’s possible too. Artists are aware that people enjoy it, that’s how and why they have jobs. Not really much you can do apart from breathing exercises, internal affirmations (I’ll be okay, this is temporary, etc). You also need to consider your eating and water intake habits. I usually eat a medium sized meal within the hour of my appointment, and I always bring a sugary drink and water with me. Not watching the machine also goes a long way given your anxiety over the needles.
It’s also so normal to be anxious about trying new things, both in personal and professional lives. In kink and everyday, it’s human nature.
I’m unaware of people specifically tattooing for fetish reasons but I’m sure there’s people out there. But a tattoo, with or without ink, is going to cause damage to your skin and there will be a mark of some kind, so you may aswell see a professional in a professional setting if you’re going to go through the experience.
