In another life you were real,

In another life I continue to feel,

Safe and loved, worthy and good,

A happiness the likes of me never should.

You turned from me, you ran away,

I didn’t know how to make you stay.

You gave me hope, you gave me joy,

You helped me believe and to fill the void.

The needs that I had

weren’t important to you,

I was merely a toy that you used and threw.

You found your new prey, a more *** one.

The story you told to draw me in

belonged to another,

A foe, not a friend.

They’ll never know the secrets you exposed,

They’ll never understand the lies you told.

I’ve grown now,

I understand more.

I see your true colours,

I see less than a man.

A danger to anyone who sees through you,

A danger to those who trust in you.

You made it unsafe for me to be,

You made it unsafe for me to feel.

You’ll never know the damage you did,

But worse than that, nor will your friends.

In another life, according to you,

we walk hand in hand, your collar, my neck.
