Pornography and the subjugation of women! Is it a thing??

Hi guys...I seek to know the answer. Has pornography been a liberation for women or subjugation? We all have equal rights in the western world yes? So why such a question? Women are free and equal yes? So there shouldn't be this question right?

I don't think it's a black and white question with a black or white answer.

Not all pornography is created equally.

In general, it's a job.  The women (and everyone else) who do it, do it to earn a crust and I can't straw poll every person to have ever filmed but for many it's an opportunity to be paid for something they enjoy doing.   But, like any job - there's good days and bad days.

There are assorted cracks you can see.  Things like pornhub and all their stolen content has driven down a lot of the earning potential and for those who struggle because of this often can't get another job because they've previously done porn - and that's a discrimination that women face.

And that's just one of many constant and often changing challenges - right now a whole bunch of new controls and regulations are going into a lot of sites and what can be sold etc which means that some content that cost *** to make now has a lower gross potential.

But if we talk on the public perspective.  There's a mixed bag also. People will blame pornography for giving unrealistic expectations on sex and consent, but to me this is less so of a pornography thing and moreso of an 'education within society thing' that we don't really talk enough on consent in wider society.

We also don't always talk that even the most authentic clips have a back story we don't see.

Women are not yet equal. On average, we still earn a good deal less than men. Women have less power than men generally. Women have less choices. If a woman has choices and still chooses pornography, that’s one thing. If her choices are limited, that’s another entirely.

I think it’s a very topic that will always be debated both in a vanilla and kink community

I agree with some of the comments made earlier

However my comment might be slightly off topic but I do wonder how much porn had a negative impact on the kink community

How much is it a true reflection on what happens within kink community and relationships

Does it give new people to the lifestyle a real understanding an idea of what a core values and safety aspects are generally incorporated into a kink relationship

Fully agree with you. Hollywood does the same. In pornography it's the well hung and muscular men. The women are all treated like a rag doll fuck object.

No.

But that's not what it's designed for.   It's designed for entertainment, stimulation and a packaged fantasy.

But, this again comes down to education.  If someone is watching fetish pornography and believes it to be a wholly accurate representation then this is down to their failure of understanding.

Morning folks.  We've needed to do a little housekeeping as this was drifting way from the original topic.

Sorry about that.

Not always, a lot of porn features a cock and a woman. Simple test, think about how many male pornstars you can name and how many female porn stars. Now I'm not saying there is not exploitation in the industry, I am absolutely sure that there is. I think a few are smart and control their own destiny and the vast majority are just used up by the industry machine.

I don't think it's impact on kink is any greater than it's impact on the vanilla world, if anything I'd think less but I have no basis for that statement. What is worrying is that is does seem to create an expectation in young men and that can't be good for young women.
