So I was chatting with a friend and I told him that I had just looked up the actual term "exhibitionist" and according to the Google definition, I'd been using it in the wrong context.  I have been using it to describe myself...as in, I love the idea of people or someone watching me have sex... I asked him, so what is what I'm describing calling?  And he said, porn.

No, you are right as you love others watching you have sex, or even I presume just being naked, watchers who don't "get involved" are generally voyeurs

According to this site, exhibitionism is the act of revealing your genitals in public. However, I always thought that it was enjoying dressing provocatively in public, in order to tease others and be suggestive, to turn heads, thereby the exhibitionist getting the adrenalin and sexual thrill of nearly revealing themselves. Well you were right it is loosely exhibitionism, but if you just like the idea of people watching you engage in a sexual activity, but otherwise you are not looking to draw attention to yourself, you have no desire to "flash"or cause shock factor... then I believe it comes more correctly under the term Martymachlia .

Martymachlia is paraphila specific to sexual activity that is witnessed by others. But still comes under the term exhibitionism, it is like a sub division.

Personally the important thing is how you view it as, everybody has their own thoughts on terminologies, and how you view it may be different to others, it's what you feel comfortable with that's important

exhibitionism can be quite a broad term

going to a club and wearing an outfit you want people to stare at can be exhibitionism

as can enjoying being watched while playing

or enjoy being watched while having sex

whilst there may be a specific term for a specific thing, sometimes keeping the broad umberella can be a lot easier
