Does anyone know why you need to verify your age with ID? It seams kindof shady that you can watch porn simply by clicking "I'm 18 or above" but yet we can't see some photos posted on this site?

I suspect a mix of

"I'm 18, honest" is insufficient

This is a fetish dating site and surely no one would possibly be happy chatting to someone they found out was a minor (there's a name for those who would be happy with this)

There is legislation in the pipeline which may ask sites to do more, so some future proof themselves

There is an app in the stores and there has to be some form of controls that stops people accessing adult content via the app

There are regulations for apps that require you to be more stringent with age checks I believe.

Also, far better to check than allow underage viewing. Surely this is obvious?

This is a case of Fetish going beyond the basic legal requirements which are very basic and as has been mentioned, legislation will likely change.
I suspect that’s part of their ‘values’ in providing a service that protects users in much the same way that they police fake profiles.

To clarify - 'Shady' is that age verification is required on a site that can be used to help people to meet in person with the same interests - Interests that can be typically viewed as sexual - so that unfortunate events dont occur (grooming for example)...

I guess you would assume they would verify your age before posting explicit photos?? 

Anyway have any of you done the verification without any issues?

yeah, I've been verified for about 4 years.

 

But like, would you not think it unfair if person a has to verify before posting explicit photos, but person b can just see them without verification?  that's somewhat of a power imbalance if nothing else.   Although, is also about 95% of legit online porn I guess.

My issue is that you have to pay to keep your age verification.. I don't mind having to verify my age, but I shouldn't have to pay for it too.

that's something I do have a bit more sympathy for
to me it feels there should be some bunch of incentives to verify with or without paying

Well it does make sense as if they verify every person that is posting explicit images  either they have a guarantee the person is of legal age or at the very least have the real identity  of the poster that attempts to post images of a minor 

 

This fact will almost certainly stop it happening on this site
