How many people - realistically - would be happy with an email or a push notification at a time they cannot control going "BTW - we've got an outage" or planned maintenance or so on from a fetish website - then add in again, with the default on websites now being to "opt out" of notifications/offers/etc a lot of users wouldn't get them anyway.

But also. Perhaps this is a kind of tech apathy in general.   I think I've been on facebook since 2007 or 2008.  I have never once even had an email saying "hey, we have new features" - ditto for twitter which has been several years also.   Fetlife is notorious for going down and you get nothing more than a generic error message or their oh-so-humorous "backend is unhealthy" 500 error.  

Incidentally, there were massive problems there last week or the week before and there was little more than a delayed "oh, we're working on it" if anyone asked.

I'm not saying this is right or wrong.  But it's certainly a symptom of tech in the past couple of decades.  I think in most cases code is poked live in the hope everything will work and in most cases, most people don't even notice there's been some form of update 

 

I think it would be good with more communication, but it's definitely an industry problem rather than site specific.  

Tech apathy ☹️ what about all the geeky/nerdy types who are clever with this stuff?!? I was told it's a high paid industry in some parts at least so lots of tech designers want to do that job part of the year don't the smart guys keep on doing upgrades then?!? Even smaller ones as they have a techy brain to use for it 🤔 I certainly don't have a techy brain myself)

Not a techno-person atall although I do have neurodynamics it's not with computers 🤔 just seen this members list of updates & have no idea what these features are 😆 just really need delete/send good thing I'm on here to read forums as I probably can't use message aspect now......can't go pressing odd buttonsto try it or it could send to guys who I want to delete but are atmo stuck on my list awaiting removal ☹️

If you press and hold the last message from a user you get an option to delete the entire conversation. If you drill into the chat, I agree, you can't delete individual messages on a mobile.

Correct, you can call people because the App has contact details, but they are not exposed, you are calling a username here, not their number, that is happening under the bonnet like  Tekegram or Kik. You can turn this feature off so nobody can call you, in Settings.

Bit confused because I've seen a couple of members had got calls from other members that they dont know of..... Just randomly if I understood correctly 🕵️

You can call through the app/site. So no your number isn’t shown.

it's had it's peaks and lulls as an industry which often ties in with any skills gaps - a lot of the people in the industry in general who are highly paid are often usually specialists or people who've created a dependency : i.e. what they've done might not be anything special, but if they left the company then it'd cause problems because others don't entirely know what they did or how they did things : so they create this kinda bubble where no one wants them to leave because if they did then taking over their tasks/code and working it all out would probably end up more expensive than just keeping them.

Regardless. Even the highest paid, highest skilled, etc. their job is to usually code/develop/etc rather than deal with any form of comms side of things.  

Pretty much every major site, platform, app has had some form of outage or major bug in the last year - even if folk didn't notice it.   Because humans make mistakes.  Even those who are supposedly smart.  Because a lot is not exhaustive. 

That doesn't, however, mean that people don't have a right to be frustrated.

A few days ago while swapping messages with somebody we both noticed that when we wanted start a new paragraph by hitting return/enter the message was sent instead. 

 

Is anyone else finding this and whilst it is only a small thing, it is very annoying and how do we stop it?

I can't see how to change it on the app, but if you go onto the website and go into your message filter settings there is a new option that was added a couple of days ago where you can stop this from happening.  You are welcome to message me and I can send you some screen shots if you cant find it.

I have not swapped any messages in a while.  So, I haven't seen this personally.  However, in other apps, I have found that holding "shift" while hitting "return"/"enter" works.

That is the way, but there is now an option to turn enter=send off and have a new paragraph instead. I'm not sure it's there in the App, but on the site...

There is a 5 spoke wheel at the top of the inbox (Settings), in there is the option to switch enter=send off. 

How I was able to make nice paragraphs here.

if you are still encountering problems.
