LearningLife Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 My Fiancee and I very interested in stepping into the D/S lifestyle and have tried light play but would like to take ourselves further into this. We understand that there is a lot of misleading information out there, and we are wondering where those of you in the lifestyle have found the best information. While we love exploring our kinks, we again understand there is a learning curve and obviously we'll stumble along the way, but any help or information that you can provide us would be greatly appreciated.
Deleted Member Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 Friendly mod note not to post external links - stating the name of the website without linking to it is fine though. :) And my suggestion is to get out onto the local scene. There's often workshops at local clubs/dungeons to attend and if nothing formal, talking to people on the scene is a good way to get practical information.
Mi**** Posted December 29, 2018 Posted December 29, 2018 Have to agree with @VictoriaBlisse I learnt 90% of what I know from talking and watching other people out in clubs and events. There are some wonderfully generous people in this lifestyle who are more than willing to pass on their knowledge all you have to do is ask
ey**** Posted December 30, 2018 Posted December 30, 2018 tip 1 always get your information from multiple sources. the common ground is often closer to being right others, not necessarily misleading but not necessarily right for you. I have a blog coming soon-ish which ties in with this - my username plus dot com but, certainly - attending munches/events/workshops will massively boost you.
Deleted Member Posted December 30, 2018 Posted December 30, 2018 Don't forget to read, for background information too. As well as magazine article on here, there are good "does" and "don't" publications from well respected bdsm aficionados . I don't know if admin would allow me to mention titles or authors.

Perfectly fine - just no links allowed :)
Deleted Member Posted December 30, 2018 Posted December 30, 2018 Thanks Victoria. "SM101" by Jay Wiseman is a very good book with sound, practical advice. He was a paramedic and is now a legal specialist, so speaks from many safety stand points.
Jed Posted December 30, 2018 Posted December 30, 2018 There are plenty of well respected members within these walls that will be more than happy to offer advice and support. Taking the time and patience to learn and develop will help you both, rather than the haphazard approach of diving in with both feet. Communicating well to each other must become a pillar of your relationship. Enjoy your journey and blessings on you both.
