There's nothing wrong with seeing the site however you want to see it - so long as you accept and are respectful of the fact that not everyone will see it the same way as you and may not be here for quick fixes by means of hook ups

For me it’s not that it’s bad to want to get laid. I just don’t want every time I speak with someone from this site to think I’m going to have sex with them. BDSM is not about hooking up. It’s about so so much more than sex.

I just started on here maybe 15 minutes ago. But if it's anything like any other dating site, you're going to have people who want to hook up, people here for long-term relationships, and everything in between. There's no sense in belittling the other just because they're not into the same thing you are. it's not that serious that's all make our intentions clear when we talk to someone and hope they reciprocate

but the kinda problem is often - that people who ARE here for that try to insist everyone else also should be.  As is kinda the OPs point and as is demonstrated in many comments on the thread (those of the "if you're not here for hook ups why are you on a fetish site" type vibes)

The issue isn’t wanting sex, 🤦🏽‍♀️ It’s most definitely being vulgar and rude (at all but in particular) towards those who don’t use this site for that / being insulted for not being receptive to gross messages etcetera.

Be upfront on your profile about what you want. The only ones that want hookups are the ones that don't read and respect what you are looking for. Those are easy to determine and quite easy to block. Even the standard vanilla sites get kind of used for hookups, I have found. Not offended or surprised if some think this is the way here. But responses to unwanted approaches are in each person's power. If someone is going to whine about anything to me about how I don't give them enough of anything..pics, attention, my body..right off the bat especially, I block, easy peasy lemon squeezy. For sure. I’m definitely not complaining about people utilising this site how they wish. No matter in what site, app, locale I find myself meandering, rudeness, vulgarity in initial messages, disrespectfulness and such do not appeal and I’m not on board for it even in the rare moment I am seeking sex.
