Mi**** Posted July 8 Posted July 8 I've a Suzuki Bandit 600s (F from couple), riding since 2000 but took time out when had my kids so loving being back on the road
Gregman Posted July 14 Posted July 14 Next summer I'm looking to get my A2 motorcycle license ( I'm in the EU ). I really like adventure/enduro type bikes, and i plan on using it both on and offroad ( lots of nice dirt roads in forests and such around here ). Been looking for a Honda nx series as a starter, or something equivalent. The A2 license restricts you to some kw/kg power limit so the max i can do in terms of power is >25 hp. The nx500 dominator is cheap and plenty around here, so probably will be picking up one of those
Starving Posted July 14 Posted July 14 Hey I have a 95 Kawasaki Vulcan 1500! It’s like a cruiser! I just run errands and around town. I would love to go on a trip one day! It’s so much fun just going down the highway with the wind in your face! I feel so much freedom! It’s like having an orgasm !
YorkshireBiker Posted July 20 Author Posted July 20 I was deliberating on what to get before I got my XV950. I was trying to decide between a Vulcan 900 and a Harley Street Rod 750, the day the deal was meant to go through on the Harley, the dealer ‘re-evaluated’ my bike and dropped their offer by £1,200 so that fell through. I’m glad it did as I then found the XV which is a bike I’d wanted all the way back sines 2012 when I was on my 125 Yammy.

Big chunky cruiser, I’ll probably go that style of some point but went for the more compact American style (I think that’s what they’re called).

American classic edition. we flipped and she landed on my face and head, helmet saved my skull but my face got caved in. had to get reconstructive surgery to fix the damage.

Damn, I give you some credit for want to get back on 2 wheels. I’ve had a couple of spills in the past but nothing that required a stay in hospital. I’ve got some nerve damage to my lower back from a flip, but my XJR came down on my lower back/butt.

That not getting scared, sounds like me. I’ve had 4 near death accidents yet I keep keeping on. None were on my bike but I’ve had a few spills, nothing like yours though.

En**** Posted August 2 Posted August 2 For all that are interested, all of the British MotoGp is being broadcast on ITV1 this weekend... Only in the UK of course
thoughtcriminal Posted August 17 Posted August 17 Over 25 years i started with a Honda 125 'Spacey' which had a shopping basket on the front (bad move), then a Honda Deauville V-Twin shaft drive mini tourer, Yamaha X Max Scooter, Yamaha 600 Diversion naked (kept going into false neutral), Yamaha Majest 400 superscooter, CBR650R, Surron LB electric dirt bike. Unfortunately the storms destroyed my bespoke metal bike lock up so have decided to switch to e bikes until I can resolve getting a proper concrete garage. The motorcycle press had me believing that the end of ICE bikes had arrived but after trying an electric bike, I really think petrol bikes are still the most practical solution for two wheels over long distances :)
JimtheBear2 Posted August 20 Posted August 20 Harley came out with an e-motorcycle and a few people brought it. So many ended up hating them and put them up for sale or traded them back in real quick
thoughtcriminal Posted August 20 Posted August 20 I tried to trade the Surron e dirt bike for a petrol bike but the dealership was not interested. In fact, most of the dealerships in Edinburgh no longer appear to promote big electric motorcycles or sell them. For those who bought the e Harleys, they were victims of fashion created by media hype, and I am guilty of that as well. But in a funny kind of way, am glad I tried the electric bikes and my dirt bike was certainly far cheaper than an e Harley - and I was able to sell mine privately in less than 24 hours, so it wasn't a total loss
JimtheBear2 Posted August 23 Posted August 23 I’ve heard horror stories of guys getting stuck with them. I don’t believe in any “E” vehicle. It’s retarded to think that an E vehicle is better. You buy one and it actually won’t make a smaller carbon footprint until you hit 2k miles!! That includes all the fuel used to dig the lithium from the ground, just for the battery. Then the coal burn to process it all it’s not including all the coal being burnt to create the vehicle around just that battery. Plus all the cold being used to make any individual part to create that vehicle. Then to believe that any countries infrastructure can actually support an all electric only vehicle systems is ridiculous. If every country switch to nothing but electric, they burn out their own electric supplies. No countries system is equipped to handle that yet not even close. If anything hybrid is definitely the way to go. I actually have ideas of putting a hybrid system into the truck I have now. I have a Honda Ridgeline and it has a trunk that I will put a bank of just regular marine batteries that can be recharged. I will connect them all to alternators that are connected to the axles or wheels in someway to make sure the batteries keep charging while I’m driving, so I don’t have to worry about plugging anything in until I’m done for the day. Another issue about all electric vehicles as you can only go so far and you’ll be lucky if you run out of battery in an area that actually has somewhere you can plug in in charge especially the US with some of the distances we drive. And if you do run out of juice somewhere and you gotta plug-in, it’ll take two hours minimum to get a decent charge and that’s if there’s somewhere to plug-in if not now you gotta call somebody with a diesel generator to run a generator for hours to give yourself a charge. And then, again with the carbon footprint, all the extra cold that has to be burned to produce the electricity the charge your damn vehicle overnight, there’s no savings at all!!!!!!!!
JimtheBear2 Posted August 23 Posted August 23 now, if we could actually initiate Tesla‘s idea of free electric or laminate, that’s free no government will do that. That’s the only way to support all electric vehicles everywhere.
