At the time I replied, yes there was only 9 icons available to collect, now there is 10 and later today icon 11 will be available when its released at 3pm UK time.

You can gift your icons using the search option to other members and recollect them back exactly the way you found it. That way more people get involved in the treasure hunt

It means that you started the treasure hunt and someone gifted you one icon. You don't need anyone to give you an icon and you can find 10 icons.
